About Me

Hi, I’m Carol Miller and I come from a background of Midwest country living.  As I grew older, I found myself wanting to come back to the style of living I had when growing up.  I guess you would call it “going back to my roots”.

My dream was to have a small ranch or farm large enough to have horses, dogs, cats and chickens.  Well I’m living that dream on my own 40-acre piece of land in the beautiful rolling hills of Missouri.

One of my passions is gardening (flowers, vegetables and herbs).  When growing up as a kid in rural Ohio, we had a rather large garden and a big chicken house on two acres of land.  Dad not only built our house but also the chicken house.  Two of the dozen chickens we had kind of became our pets.  They would come right up to us and let themselves be picked up.

Dad had an old tractor to plow up the ground for our vegetable garden.  He then went about planting potatoes, tomatoes, green and waxed beans, bell peppers, cucumber, onions and corn.  Mom would can the beans, tomatoes and corn on the cob.  During the summer months I remember Mom and I would make a delicious tomato, cucumber and green pepper sandwich for lunch.  Yum!   Those were indeed fond memories.

So one day while reminiscing, I thought how much fun it would be to build this site and share some of those memories of bygone days.
